Server-side renderingSSR

Server-side rendering builds a page's HTML on the server for each request, so the browser and search engines receive complete content immediately.

What Server-side rendering means

The alternative, client-side rendering, sends a mostly empty page and builds it with JavaScript in the browser, which is slower to show and harder for crawlers.

Frameworks such as Next.js make it possible to choose per page between server rendering, static generation, and client rendering.

Example

A product page that shows live stock levels is rendered on the server for each visit, so prices and availability are always current.

Why it matters

SSR gives fast first loads and reliable indexing for pages whose content changes often.
