DNS is the internet's address book. It translates a domain name such as parwazdigital.com into the IP address of the server that hosts the site.
DNS records are set where the domain is managed. An A record points a domain to an IP address, a CNAME points one name to another, and MX records route email.
Changes take time to spread because resolvers cache answers, which is why a moved site can briefly show the old version on some devices.
Example
Moving a website to a new server means updating its A record to the new server's IP address.
Why it matters
A wrong DNS record can take a website or its email offline, so it is worth understanding before changing hosts.
